The Geographical Epidemiology course presents a practical and comprehensive overview of geographical epidemiology.
The notions of spatial data, epidemiology and map-making are presented.
The emphasis of the course is on spatial statistical methods and their application in public health, epidemiology, veterinary science and medical geography. Classes will introduce and discuss the following topics:
- Likelihood and Bayesian methods for disease mapping
- Cluster analysis and detection
- Regression modeling.
An outlook will review advanced methods for the analysis of spatial epidemiologic data.
This is a one-week, lecture- and lab-based course.
The course is targeted at public health practitioners and researchers, students and faculty from disciplines such as veterinary epidemiology, biostatistics and medical geography.
There are no specific prerequisites for this course other than motivation and willingness to actively participate in this five-day course.
